North America Diving Dogs Standards of Sportsmanship

 

  • NADD Competitors should respect the history, traditions and integrity of the sport of diving dogs.
  • NADD Competitors should commit themselves to values of fair play, honesty, courtesy, and vigorous competition, as well as winning and losing with grace.
  • NADD Competitors should refuse to compromise their commitment and obligation to the sport of diving dogs by injecting personal advantage or consideration into their decisions or behavior.
  • A NADD certified judge will only judge based on the results of the dogs and will consider no other factors.
  • A NADD Competitor, judge or exhibitor should be willing to accept constructive criticism.
  • A NADD Competitor should refuse to compromise or question the impartiality of a judge.
  • A NADD Competitor should always respect the NADD rules, regulations and policies governing the sport of diving dogs.
  • NADD Competitors should find that vigorous competition and mutual civility are consistent attributes and are able to appreciate the merit of their competition and the effort of fellow competitors.
  • NADD Competitors should welcome, encourage and support newcomers to the sport.
  • NADD Competitors will deal fairly with all those who interact with them.
  • NADD Competitors are willing to share honest and open appraisals of both the strengths and weaknesses of their dogs.
  • NADD Competitors spurn any opportunity to take personal advantage of positions offered or bestowed upon them.
  • NADD Competitors always consider as paramount the welfare of their dog.
  • NADD Competitors refuse to embarrass the sport, NADD, the American Kennel Club, or themselves while taking part in the sport.

 

Any violations of this standard can result in any action from a polite verbal warning, to dismissal from an event, up to a suspension from NADD depending on the severity of the occurrence.
