This event is being held at the Houston Dive Dogs facility. There will be set splash times on set days. You will likely be jumping only one of the days. All 3 disciplines are offered to all divisions each day.
Where to stay: We will leave this up to you to find the lodging that best fits your situation. Hotel, airbnb, camping. There is some camping on site, please contact Houston Dive Dogs. And more details will be posted here shortly.
We will post covid guidelines, logistics, and general instructions as we get closer to the event and have new data finalized. Stay tuned here but your best bet is also to join the South central regionals facebook page.

It’s certain to be a good time with so many cool competitors making their way out to the Houston Diving Dogs Facility for this first of its kind South Central Regionals event.
NADD is happy to be able to create this opportunity for your dogs to have a shot at the final season championship. In a year where nothing was certain, we all did our best and when it seemed like there would be no season finale, Deb came up with a plan to make sure 2020 would crown some NADD Champions.
Read through this carefully, some of it is very VERY important. And some of it is just a reminder to enjoy your time with your dog and fellow competitors.
Wednesday Practice Slots
The pool will be open from 8am-7pm for rental in 15 minute blocks. Each block is $15. Emily Hyler from Houston Dive Dogs will be available for instruction during your time slot for an additional $15. Other NADD facility trainers are welcome to coordinate with their clients to coach during practice slots.
Time must be booked by TEXTING Emily at 832-588-7016. Please include your name and a time frame that you have available (IE: "would prefer morning", "after 3pm preferred", etc.). She will reply to texts and confirm appointments with exact time. Slots are first come, first serve.
We recommend arriving 15-30 minutes before your slot. You will need to sign waivers and pay before starting your time. You will only have the 15 minutes you are booked for, so if you are late we can not extend your time.
Staff will give a 5 minute, 2 minute, and 1 minute warning. You and your dog must be off the dock and the end of your 15 minutes so the next person's time is not cut short.
We understand some of you can’t make it out Wednesday. That’s always true at our nationals event also, not everyone can make the extra practice times and extra splashes. I get it. Have fun anyway. Do what you can.
Parking
Parking will be tight. Only vehicles carrying competitors and/or volunteers will be permitted. If you want someone to hold your dog for you that is not jumping a dog that particular day they need to come to the event in your vehicle. Spectators are not permitted.
Parking will be in the field with the facility pool. Please pull around the curve of the driveway before pulling into the field (do not pull through the ditch).
Covid
You will be required to sign a waiver at the event. You can also bring it with you signed if you prefer. Here is a link to the waiver. https://s3.amazonaws.com/public-uploader.nadd/NADDEventDocs/COVIDWaiver1588172817253.pdf
You should come prepared with masks, hand cleaner/sanitizer, etc. Your safety is your responsibility meaning you need to social distance and protect yourself at all times to the degree that you choose. We will remind you to social distance and we will have some crowd control systems in place to diminish proximity at the admin table and stairs.
Schedule
08:00 am: Splash #301 (Hydro Dash)
Splash #1 (Distance Jump) and Splash 2, 3 and Air Retrieve will commence immediately after the previous splash. When that happens will vary by day.
The below times are my BEST GUESS.
Thursday
8:00 Hydro Dash -- 8:30 Splash #1 - 10:30 Splash #2 - 12:00 Splash #3 -- 2-4 Air Retrieve
Friday
8:00 Hydro Dash -- 8:30 Splash #1 - 11:30 Splash #2 - 2pm Splash #3 -- 4:30-6 Air Retrieve

-Sunday
8:00 Hydro Dash -- 8:30 Splash #1 - 10:30 Splash 2 - 12:30 Splash 3 -- 2:30-4:30 Air Retrieve
Splash 2, 3 and Air Retrieve will commence immediately after the previous splash. When that happens will vary by day. Above schedule may shift.
IMPORTANT**********
You must check in, sign your waiver, get your swag bag, declare your awesomeness. For HD, by 7:30am, for Splashes, by 8am, for AR, 2 hours before the scheduled start time.
If you do not check in, or if you are late for your turn on the dock, you miss your turn on the dock.
We do not have any seconds to spare on Friday and Saturday. So any delay means dogs could be jumping in the dark. Do not miss your turn. Be waiting in the On deck area (next) , in the hole (up in 2), and standing by (next 3-5 dogs).
I will be adding a second set of stairs. As the dog and handler on the dock exit the opposite stairs, the “on deck” team will start up the steps, entering only when the previous team is walking down the steps. Then the “in the hole” team moves up to the bottom of the stairs and is now “on deck” or next to go.
Potty your dogs. Potty yourself. Be Ready when it is your turn.
You do earn a Q ribbon for each splash and every splash counts so you do earn title ribbons. Make sure you get yours before you leave. They may not be ready immediately, please be patient.
Structure Reminders:
- For Distance: Each dog will be required to jump in all 3 splashes on their assigned day of Competition. Their average of those 3 jumps will be the score used in the Final Rankings.
- Each dog will be given 3 minutes (The optional Practice jump will ONLY be available on the FIRST splash of the day.)
- Dogs are required to complete all 3 splashes in order to get a Average score.
- As we are using an 3 jump average, there is no CAP system. If a dogs average is in the next division, that is the division they are ranked in.
- If a dog is invited in a higher division, but their average is in a lower division at Regionals, they will still be ranked in the higher assigned division.
- Tie Breakers: If dogs are tied in the Final Rankings:
- 1st tie Breaker: Longest jump at Regionals
- 2nd Tie Breaker: 2nd longest jump at Regionals
- 3rd Tie Breaker: Higher Recent average at the completion of the event.
- 4th Tie Breaker: Higher Season Average.
- For Air Retrieve: Each dog will compete in the assigned day of competition and the score from that day will be used in the Final Rankings.
- Dogs will be required to start at a distance NO LOWER than 2 feet below there RECENT AVERAGE.
- There will be 1 1 foot CAP. This means each for each division, 1 foot is added. Anything longer than that moves the dog up to the next division.
- Tie Breakers: If dogs are tied in the Final Rankings:
- 1st Tie Breaker: Dog with the least number of overall misses
- 2nd Tie Breaker: The team with a successful grab at a lower distance than the other team.
- 3rd Tie Breaker: HIgher Final Recent average from 2020 season.
- 4th Tie Breaker: Higher Season Average.
- For Hydro Dash: Each dog will compete in the assigned day of competition and the score from that day will be used in the Final Rankings.
- Tie Breakers: If dogs are tied in the Final Rankings:
- 1st Tie Breaker: Next fastest score on the 2nd run of the Splash.
- 2nd Tie Breaker: Higher Recent average at the completion of the event.
- 3rd Tie Breaker: Higher Season Average.
