We are thrilled to announce our upcoming collaboration with AKC.TV for a special event showcasing the sport of Diving Dogs! Scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd, this event will be held outdoors at the Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah GA.
Event Details:
- Location: Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah GA
- Date: Practice and Handler meeting Friday May 2nd, competition and filming May 3rd
- Produced for Television: AKC.TV for ESPN
Event Highlights:
- Featuring versatile dogs competing in BOTH Distance and Air Retrieve.
- Competition division will be based on your dog's 2024/2025 Distance Season Average.
- Open to dogs with AKC registration numbers, including PAL & Canine Partner Numbers.
If you do not meet requirements for BOTH DJ & AR your entry will be removed.
Requirements for Registration:
- Dogs must compete & enter BOTH Distance and Air Retrieve. (make sure you enter your dog in BOTH distance and AR splashes)
- Minimum Distance Season Average requirements:
- Splash #1 Open dogs with a season average of 24' and up
- Splash #2 Open dogs with a season average of 18 - 23'11"
- Lap Division: Splash #3 Lap dogs with a season average of 10' and above
- Minimum requirement for Air Retrieve: must have completed at least one qualifying score in AR in 24/25 season.
- You may enter as many dogs as meet the requirements, but only 1 dog per household will be chosen to compete. Once a dog is chosen, any other dogs entered from that household will be ineligible. (NADD may make an exception IF we do not have enough dogs to fill the available spots)
Participant Selection:
- Pre-Registration will open on January 25th at 1pm CST
- Due to Army base rules and regulations ALL attendees MUST submit a current drivers license and vehicle license plate information no later than 4/3/2025 in order to enter the military base.
Additional Details:
- No registration cost for competitors.
- Jumps will not count toward qualifying legs or titles during this special event.
- Invitees will be notified via email and on the NADD Fan Page on Facebook.
- Must attend BOTH days
Special Notes:
- This event will operate under non-standard rules; detailed event rules will be provided to invitees prior to the event.
- Prize money and ribbons will be giving to top competitors in each division.
- AKC TV and NADD reserve the right to revise rules as necessary for filming and production.
We look forward to showcasing our competitors who have served in the Military. A survey will be sent out to capture this information BEFORE dogs are selected for this event.
