NEW FOR THIS YEAR
Below is an overview of the changes we have made to Regionals and Nationals.
General Information
RUNNING ORDER
Regionals & Nationals
SCHEDULE
Regionals
- NEW this year - Alphabetical run order (A-Z) by division with no stopping between divisions.
- You may attend as many regionals as you would like in any location.
- Schedule each day will run HD, DJ, AR.
- Junior event will run at a predetermined time depending on that docks overall schedule.
Nationals
- Wednesday - Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) Run with splash cards for distance, AR & HD are set run orders
- Thursday–National Championship Distance splash #1 & HD Alphabetical run order (A-Z) by division with no stopping between divisions.
- Friday – National Championship Distance splash #2 & AR
- Saturday – Finals, Juniors, Awards
- Sunday - First Chance Qualifier (FCQ) Run with splash cards for distance, AR & HD are set run orders
PRACTICE TIME
Regionals
- Practice during first splash Distance only.
- No Practice for HD or AR
Nationals
- Practice during first splash Distance only.
- No Practice for HD or AR
- Since these events take a village to manage and run as a thank you, we will make additional warm up pool time available for volunteers.
DISTANCE
Regionals
- The division you will compete in will be determined by season average at the close of the regional event registration.
- 12” cap. Meaning - If your best jump is over the 12” cap you will be moved into the next division for placement.
- 3 minutes, practice on first splash only. You will get 2 splashes *
- Placement will be determined by the best of your 2 splashes.
Nationals
- The division you will compete in will be determined by your season average on Sept 15th.
- 12” cap. Meaning - if your best jump is over the 12” cap, you will be moved into the next division for placement.
- 3 minutes per splash, practice on the first splash only. You will get 2 splashes.
- Finals on Saturday
- Top 10 dogs in each division come back for finals
AIR RETRIEVE
Regionals
- The division you will compete in will be determined by season average at the close of the regional event registration.
- Can start no lower than 1ft below your season average.
- 1ft cap
- No practice
Nationals
- The division you will compete in will be determined by your season average on Sept 15th.
- Can start no lower than 1ft below your season average.
- 1ft cap
- No practice
- Finals on Saturday
- Top 10 dogs in each division come back.
HYDRODASH
Regionals
- The division you will compete in will be determined by season average at the close of the regional event registration.
- .500 sec cap
- No practice
Nationals
- The division you will compete in will be determined by your season average on Sept 15th.
- .500 sec cap
- No practice
- Semi Finals & Finals on Saturday
- TBD percentage in each division will be invited to the semi finals
- Top 10 from each division will go to finals
AWARDS PRESENTATION
Regionals
- Awards will be presented on the final day of Regionals after all scores have been entered.
- Must pick up your award at the Regional it was earned at or make arrangements for someone to pick it up for you.
- Awards will be presented to the top 3 dogs in each division in DJ, HD, and AR and Veterans (Novice - Elite)
- Results for that day's competition will be posted each evening during competition after that day's scores have been entered.
Nationals
- Awards will be presented at a dedicated awards ceremony after finals have been completed.
- Awards will be presented to the top 10 dogs in each division in DJ, HD, and AR and Veterans (Novice - Elite)

BANQUET
- To be held on Saturday, October 29th after the finals.
- Banquet Tentative Schedule:
- 5:30pm - Cocktail Hour
- 6:30pm Dinner and Special Awards Presentation (tentative list…more to come!):

JUNIOR HANDLERS
Regionals & Nationals
- Compete in distance only
- A Junior Handler Committee has been formed and is currently working through feedback. More information to come on Junior Handler for both Regionals and Nationals.

- Regional and National items will be available from Bonfire for pre-order.
- Regionals and Nationals collars and leashes are available for purchase on the Champ Dog Gear Website
