Other Notes
Updated 8-15-19.
We appreciate your coming to our event. If there is anything we can do to make your experience better please let us know.
Mary Watcher, Animal Watchers' Amazing Canines (520) 456-9020.
NEW: Dr. Garthe from Paradise Point Animal Hospital in Phoenix will be here administering cold laser therapy. I do not know the cost. The therapy lasts an average of 3 minutes. Your pet experiences a comfortable, relieving sensation at the point of application 30 minutes after treatment. Benefits: Relief of acute pain, chronic pain, anti-inflammatory, helps heal damaged or strained tissue, improves blood circulation, etc.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE:
You must check in and sign waiver before using the pool.
Friday, August 16, 2019:
Facility is open from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for early check-in, set-up, and pool practice ($10 per dog).
From 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. you may still set up but you cannot use the pool.
Pool area will be locked at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday August 17 and Sunday August 18, 2019
7:00 a.m. Check-In begins. Please check in before you do anything else. The trial secretary's table is on the right of the entrance gate to the pool area.
7:45 a.m. Judges Briefing
8:00 a.m. First Splash begins.
Weather. If checking weather reports, use "Huachuca City" as Tucson and Sierra Vista's weather are often different then our weather.
Loading and unloading. The area in front of the gate to the pool area is for loading and unloading only.
THE 12 ACRES THAT THE POOL IS ON IS NOT COMPLETELY FENCED IN.
All dogs must be on leash at all times except when inside the pool fencing or fenced potty area.
Give each dog some personal space, especially when in line to enter the dock. We have bright orange and black bandanas that you may put on your dog so others know your dog likes having some extra personal space.
Covered Agility Area. Do not use any of the agility equipment. You may sit and crate your dogs there, as it tends to be about 15 degrees cooler, definitely cooler than under a canopy.
Parking: There is plenty of parking space, but please park next to a car that is already parked so we can maximize the amount of cars that can park close to the pool area. Do not park in front of the Kennel Office door or to the right of it, those spaces are for kennel customers.
DRIVEWAY GATE:
Entering: Our driveway has an electronic gate. The key pad is on the left side (driver's side) when entering. The Code is 1, 2, 3, 4. The Code is also written on the key pad so don't worry about memorizing it.
Exiting: The gate should open automatically for you. If it does not open, there is a red box on the left side of the driveway that has a remote in it which has always worked. Just point it towards the gate, push the button and return the remote to the box.
Bring canopies for shade. Ground is dirt and we sometimes get gusts of wind, so you will need to stake your canopies.
Food: In our area it is very hard to find food trucks that will come to a facility with only have 35 to 40 competitors attending, and of course not everyone buys food.
On Saturday only, we are going to have meat ball sandwiches and a vegetarian tofu noodle salad supplied by a local caterer. We are trying to see if catering would be a feasible option. When you check in you will get a ticket for a free lunch. I only ask that on the back of your ticket you write "M" for meatball or "V" for vegetarian.
Bring food or snacks. There are no fast food restaurants close by. About a 10-minute drive from here in Huachuca City there are 3 good restaurants all within a block of each other. For carry-out El Camino would probably be the fastest. Sunny D's and Rays do offer carry-out but they are mainly sit down restaurants.
Hotels. There are many pet-friendly hotels in Sierra Vista. There is also a very nice Comfort Inn at the I-10 exit to Hwy 90 / Ft. Huachuca. If you mention you are coming to this event you will get a discounted room. If you have any problems ask to speak to Dean Penrose, the manager.
